Local Farm & Rotary Club Give $1000 to Backpack Program
Posted on 01/13/2020

Fort Ann Rotary Club and Lavenlair Farm donated $1,000 to Fort Ann Central School District’s Family Outreach Center’s Weekend Backpack Program. The Backpack Program is available to participating families free of cost.

The Weekend Backpack Program provides a weekend’s worth of food for children and their families who participate in this program. Every Friday that school is in session, a bag filled with non-perishable food items is sent home thus providing a weekend’s worth of food for these children and their families.

The program addresses the issues of food insecurity and chronic hunger that is faced by many families in our area. Donations and volunteers contribute to the program’s success. “David and I are proud to be part of a dynamic group of local citizens making a difference in our community. If you’re interested in joining the Fort Ann Rotary Club, please email info@LavenlairFarm.com,” said Diane Allen of Lavenlair Farm.

“When businesses and groups like the Fort Ann Rotary Cub make donations like this, it allows me to focus on students and their needs instead of fundraising,” says Emily Stranahan, Family Outreach Specialist. “Your donations of food and money really do make a difference for these students and their families.”
