Fort Ann Central School District

Nestled in the beautiful foothills of the Adirondack Mountains in Washington County of New York State, The Fort Ann Central School District has a current enrollment of 550 students in grades pre-kindergarten through 12th grade.

The largest grade is comprised of 54 students, but in general there are 30-35 students per grade level.

Offering an excellent academic program, Fort Ann School has a low student drop-out rate with more than 86% of our graduates attending college. Generally, 20% of our senior high school students attend the Career and Technical Education program offered by the Washington-Saratoga-Warren-Hamilton-Essex BOCES.

Fort Ann offers educational enhancement opportunities for seniors to earn college credit on-site, via advanced math courses, as well as on-line academic coursework.

Extracurricular and sports programs play a major role in student life. Fort Ann Central School is a member of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (Section 11) and competes locally in the Adirondack League. Fort Ann offers soccer, basketball, baseball, softball, cross-country, golf, and wrestling programs.

We have a reputation for producing quality teams on the fields and for numerous scholar-athlete teams in almost every varsity sport. Fort Ann athletic programs, at all levels, have elicited great pride for our school district and surrounding community.


There is a very low turnover rate for teachers at Fort Ann School, which employs 97 faculty and staff members.

In May 2000, the Fort Ann community approved a new building and renovation Capital Project in the amount of $13,958,000. In mid-October 2003, we opened a 40,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art addition housing 10 new classrooms, library media center, 473-seat auditorium, two music rooms, and a computer lab. Later in the year, new locker rooms were added along with 15 completely renovated high school classrooms and science labs. 

Work during the summer of 2004 included the completion of high school renovations, new special education, elementary secondary and district offices, an additional computer a brand-new cafeteria, and kitchen, a renovated state-of the art-technology complex and minor renovations to existing elementary classrooms.
