District Office

Kevin Froats, SuperintendentDear Fort Ann Families,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your patience and understanding this summer as we reconstructed much of our campus during our Capital Improvement Project. With the dedicated help of our custodial, clerical, transportation, network and administrative staff, the major improvements made to our campus were ready just in time for the opening of school. I thank every person involved in the process and through it all, I have learned the value of embracing the imperfections and challenges that significant change can bring.

With this project, key improvements included: rebuilding the bus garage, reconstructing our main parking lots, adding a functional and safe bus loop, installing an emergency generator, fixing interior and exterior drainage issues, relocating the fitness room for community access, upgrading the sound system in our auditorium, and replacing outdated hot water heaters, electrical panels, gym doors, bleachers, and emergency exit lighting. We also repurposed the old fitness center into a modern “Maker Space” and added new interactive whiteboards to all of our classrooms.

To coincide with a new and improved building, we took the time to refresh our district goals as we begin the 2019-2020 school year. The Fort Ann Central School District continues to ensure that all students learn in a safe, creative, rigorous, and respectful learning environment. Our efforts will focus on the “whole child,” empowering students to reach their full potential not only educationally but socially and emotionally as well. As educators and community members, we will work together to prepare respectful, empathetic students for their future as global citizens.

Our new Maker Space Lab will highlight the importance of nurturing ingenuity, adaptability, student engagement, teamwork, robotics, and technology while exposing our students for multiple career STEAM pathway possibilities. This year, as in the past, we will continue to analyze data, assess educational strategies and share best practices within our Washington County Professional Learning Communities.

It is with confidence that I say our combined efforts will continue to improve our curriculum and educational practices as we transition to the Next Generation Standards. As always, we will promote the highest level of achievement for every student. I thank you for your continued support as we work together as a school community to make 2019-2020 our best year yet!

Sincerely yours,

Kevin A. Froats
