Health Guidelines for In-Person Learning

Dear Parents, Guardians, Students and Staff,

Returning to in-person learning during the COVID-19 pandemic brings new health procedures for the 2020-2021 academic year. The Washington County Department of Health and The New York State Department of Health have developed protocols that Fort Ann Central School must follow to continue in-person learning. This includes new guidelines for students and staff with signs of illness. Students and staff with ANY of the following new symptoms should not attend school:

Temperature greater than 100.0
Cough
Shortness of breath
Headache
Loss of taste or smell
Sore throat
Congestion
Nausea/Vomiting/Diarrhea
Body Aches

Any student or staff member that presents at school with these symptoms will be sent home and cannot
return to the building until:

1. Evaluation by physician and
2. Negative COVID-19 test result and
3. Symptom resolution

If symptoms are due to a preexisting condition such as documented allergies, asthma or migraines, this exclusion criteria does not apply. Any person exposed to a case of COVID19, or testing positive must not attend and will receive all direction from the Washington County Health Department.

We acknowledge that these new guidelines will be incredibly challenging for families. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work together to create a safe environment for our children. Our goal is to keep our doors open and our students healthy.

If you have any questions please contact the Washington County Health Department at (518) 746-2400.

Sincerely,

Mr. Kevin Froats, Superintendent
Mr. Justin Hoskins,  MS/HS Principal
Mrs. Michelle Discenza, Elementary Principal
Mrs. Jennifer Ortiz, School Nurse
