Individual Tests Positive for COVID-19
Posted on 11/30/2020

Over the Thanksgiving break, the district learned that an individual in the Jr. High School tested positive for COVID-19. This individual is now in quarantine and will have to recover, receive a negative COVID-19 test, and be cleared by the Department of Health before returning to school.

This individual was last in the building prior to Thanksgiving break and has not been in the building since. We have worked closely with the Washington County Health Department on contact tracing efforts and together, the district and the Department of Health mutually agree that it is safe to remain open for in-person instruction at this time.

In regards to contact tracing, if you or your child were in close proximity to this individual for a certain period of time, the County Department of Health will contact you directly.

Please note that The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information. We cannot identify anyone who has tested positive.

Since the start of the school year, the district has been thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting all buildings on campus, in accordance with guidance from the New York State Department of Health and the CDC.

Please contact the district office if you would like more information about our health and safety procedures.
