2/12/21 COVID-19 UPDATE:

Due to our current COVID-19 positivity rate in the community, the District has decided to opt-out of high-risk sports to focus on the Fall-2 season, scheduled to start on March 7, 2021. This decision is compounded by the shortened winter sports season (2 to 4 games), health and COVID screening requirements, and limited roster size restrictions.

However, we will be providing new opportunities for Middle School and High School students to participate in after-school athletics. Prior to participation, all families must READ AND COMPLETE OUR parental consent form here. These will include sports training sessions, low-contact group training activities, and other types of play to prepare students for the Fall-2 season.

Message from the Washington County Department of Health

Following the "Interim Guidance for Sports and Recreation During the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency" the state placed local health departments in the position of having to permit or allow these sports to proceed. Based on the current status of COVID-19 in our communities and the dedicated work that our school administrators, staff, and community members are doing to make every effort to continue keeping our schools operating with as much in-person instruction as possible, Washington County cannot soundly permit these "higher risk" sports to proceed at this time.
While we all wish for our communities and schools to resume some sense of normalcy, which includes our treasured sports programs, we are committed to continuing to work with our dedicated school leaders, medical oversight professionals, community leaders, and neighboring county officials to identify the timeframe these "higher risk" sports can resume in a safe and responsible manner for everyone involved.

in the Fort Ann athletics program is a privilege that should elicit great pride in both students and families. Accordingly, the Board of Education, administration, coaches of athletic teams, and advisors/sponsors of student activities believe that students who are selected for membership on teams, squads, clubs, and other organizations, should conduct themselves as responsible representatives of our school.

The Fort Ann athletic program is governed by the regulations established by the Commissioner of Education's basic code for extracurricular participation. Fort Ann is a member of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association competing in Section II as a member of the Adirondack League.
