Fort Ann Central School District is proud to announce a familiar face in a new leadership role this fall. Mrs. Heather Wood, who has taught fourth grade at Fort Ann for the past nine years, will step into the position of elementary principal beginning July 2025.

"Mrs. Wood is a great teacher who has built strong relationships with students and families over the years. Moving from teacher to principal, she brings the perfect mix of experience and fresh leadership to our elementary school," said Superintendent Justin Hoskins.

Mrs. Wood looks forward to the new role.

"I love being a teacher, but after holding many leadership positions within the district and working closely with administration, I realized that I can support more staff and students as principal. I feel as an educator that this is the direction I am meant to go in," she said.

Mrs. Wood holds an undergraduate degree in Childhood Education from SUNY Potsdam and a master's degree in Curriculum and Instructional Technology from SUNY Plattsburgh. She recently completed her School Building Leadership Certificate also from SUNY Plattsburgh.

"My vision is to promote a positive and supportive learning environment for students while upholding high expectations and academic excellence. I want all of our students to become lifelong learners," she said.

Outside of school, Mrs. Wood enjoys traveling, boating, working out, reading, and spending time with friends, family, and pets.
